Speaker 1:

Hey, there, hi, and welcome back ambitious fundraisers. It's the holiday season and I'm so glad you're here with me for a special mini-episode of let's Talk Fundraising. Whether you're walking the dog, driving between donor visits or just taking a well-deserved break, I'm sending you all the good vibes and hoping a mug of hot cocoa finds its way to you soon. First off, I want to take a moment to say thank you. This year, so many of you have reached out through LinkedIn text messages, emails and shared your thoughts, your wins and even your challenges. Your feedback means the world to me. It's what makes this podcast a two-way street and reminds me why we do this work. You're out there changing lives, one gift and one relationship at a time, and it's an honor to be a part of your journey. Now, I know this is crunch time for many of you. Year-end giving campaigns can feel like a marathon and a sprint rolled into one, but take heart. You're in the home stretch. All those late nights, carefully crafted appeals and donor phone calls do matter. You're helping people connect their generosity to the causes that they care about most, and that's a gift that outlasts the season. So hang in there. Keep showing up with heart and grit, because you've got this, and if you need a little extra encouragement, hey, I'm just a message away. Speaking of staying connected, let me remind you you can sign up for our email newsletter at wwwletstalkfundraisingcom. It's the best way to get tips, resources and updates delivered right to your inbox. And don't forget to follow let's Talk Fundraising on LinkedIn for even more behind-the-scenes insights. Now, before I go any further, I want to let you know that let's Talk Fundraising will be taking a short holiday break for the rest of December. It's important to take time to recharge, especially after a busy year like this one, but don't worry, I'll be back in January with fresh episodes on topics I know you're going to love, like building stronger boards and creating employee wellness programs that tackle burnout, plus all the deep dives into fundraising that you're used to. We'll hit the ground running in 2025, and I can't wait to see what's ahead for all of us.

Speaker 1:

Of course, it wouldn't be the holidays without our traditions, and I just wanted to share some of my favorite memories that come from two very different places that I've been lucky enough to call home. When I lived on the Big Island in Hawaii, winter was a little different than the rest of the United States. Did you know it actually snows on Mauna Kea? It actually gets its name meaning white mountain, with Mauna meaning mountain and Kea meaning snow from the winter storms. My friends and I we'd bundle up, head to the summit for sledding and some snowman building, then we'd pack up the truck, drive back down to the beach and finish the day with a snowball fight on the beach and Mai Tais under the palm trees. Yep, snowball fights at sea level. How's that for some holiday magic?

Speaker 1:

And now that I'm in New Mexico, christmas Eve is all about strolling through town to admire the faralitos, those beautiful paper lanterns lining rooftops and walkways. It's a quiet, peaceful tradition, walking among the lights with a steaming cup of hot chocolate in hand. Those moments remind me that no matter where you are or how you celebrate, it's about connecting with the people and places that matter most. So, my friends, as you wrap up the year, whether you're closing out campaigns or making time for family, I hope you find moments of joy and rest. Thank you for being a part of this community and for all the incredible work you do every day. I'm wishing you a holiday season filled with laughter, love and maybe even a snowball fight or two, beachside or otherwise, and I'll see you back here in January, ready to take on 2025 together. Until then, stay warm, stay inspired and stay connected. Happy holidays, ambitious fundraisers.
